By Faith
We are working through a series
entitled, By Faith which will take us
through most of May. As I have been
reflecting on my own spiritual journey I thought it would be a good idea to go
back and re-read through some of my journals. As
I did this I learned a few things.
1) I was a big dork. The key word
here is was. 2) Our faith never
stays the same. If you have never
started journaling, I would highly recommend it.
Journaling is therapeutic and it helps us when we can go back and see how
God has worked in our lives.
As I was reading the various
journal entries I noticed that sometimes my faith would soar in difficult times. Other times when I was encountering
the valleys, the low points, my faith seemed to be shaken a bit. I do know this, that our faith never
remains static. It is always in a
state of flux. We are either
becoming more like Christ or we are drifting further away from reflecting His
nature, His character, His image and thus our faith (trust in God) is changed.
One of the things that helps me
to excel in an area where I am could use some improvements is to look at the
example of other’s who are successful at what I am trying to accomplish. If I wanted to become a great artist
it would help to study other artist’s work.
If we want our faith to soar, to rise to new heights, we can benefit a
lot by looking at the Faith Hall of Fame listed in Hebrews 11. Some of the characters I picked
for the series are more well known than others.
Here is a rundown of the cast of characters we will be learning from over
the next five weeks.
April 25th Abel vs. Cain
May 2nd Noah vs. the
World
May 9th Mother’s Day:
The Man with two mothers Moses
May 16th The woman with a Past: Rahab
May 23rd The Other Barak (Not the President)
May God use this series to
uplift your faith. May you be
challenged and at the same time encouraged by men and women of the Bible who had
tremendous faith and because of their faith changed their world. Are you going
to be the next world changer?
Loving God, loving people.
